What does does General Assembly do?

General Assembly is a global tech education company with 22 campuses across the US and around the world. We were just named one of the top ten most innovative education technology companies by Fast Company Magazine in 2019. We offer both part-time and full-time courses in coding, data, design, and business. We also offer one-time classes, workshops, and events. We host a ton of awesome programming for the tech community in Denver and across the globe.

What do you do for General Assembly?

I am the Regional Director. I manage the Denver campus and work with the different teams to make sure that students, grads, instructors and staff are successful. I also have the pleasure of working with companies who may be interested in our professional learning solutions. I like to think of my role as school principal meets general manager.

Why did your General Assembly decide to participate in Colorado Startup Brews?

We participated last year and we had a blast! It is an excellent way to get involved in the Colorado tech community and connect with companies and people we might not have otherwise. On top of that, our students had a great time making connections and learning about companies they would potentially like to work with after graduation.

Tell us about the beer styles you are submitting this year.

Our beer choice is much like our educational model – high return on investment! We are keeping it classic and going with a traditional IPA. We were inspired by New Belgium’s Ranger! Since we’re a tech school, we decided to call the brew APIs n’ IPAs!

What do you plan on doing with this year’s championship trophy if you win?

If we win, we will put up the trophy in our office! We are located over in Industry RiNo so we will make sure it’s in a place where all of our neighbors can see it!

We’re happy to have General Assembly join us again this year. Be sure to stop by their table and try their APIs n’ IPAs on September 13th!
