Judging and Awards
Participating companies compete on two fronts: a BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) brew competition and a label design competition. In previous years, we’ve had a few celebrity judges including Dear Jack’s Founder Andrew McMahon, brewers from Left Hand and New Belgium, a Denver Business Journal beer writer and certified beer judges.

Brews
- Brew drop-offs are from August 26th, 2019 @ 9am to September 3rd, 2019 @ 5pm
- Drop off your beer for judging at Ombud Headquarters
- Brew judging and label judging are taking
place September 7th, 2019. The event is a BJCP-sanctioned event and will be run according to their guidelines.
The off-site judging will keep the event running more smoothly. For the judged competition, you will need to submit two (2) 12-ounce bottles of your beer to event organizers no later than September 3rd, 2019 @
Label
- Label submissions from August 26th, 2019 @ 9am to September 3rd, 2019 @ 5pm
- Drop your beer off for judging at Ombud Headquarters
- Label judging is taking place Saturday, September 7th, 2019
The off-site judging will keep the event running more smoothly. For the judged competition, you will need to provide printed artwork or labeled beer to the drop-off location no later than September 3rd, 2019 @

Judging Criteria
Brews
Each beer will be judged on several factors, including appearance, aroma, and taste. There are no limitations or requirements on the type of beer you create.
Label
Each label will be judged on several factors, including marketing concept targeted to the CSB community and execution.
Awards
Brews
Awards are broken into a two categories:
- The Judge’s Choice Awards will be given to the top three beers, as voted by the panel of judges. Professional feedback will be given.
- The People’s Choice Awards will be given to the team with the most votes from everyone at the event (potentially including judges).
Winners will receive tap handle trophies (they are real, usable tap handles!), bragging rights and the satisfaction of helping an amazing, local, non-profit. Aside from that, we will have various other prizes and giveaways at the event.
Label
The Judge’s Choice Awards will be given to the top three labels, as voted by the panel of judges.
